An Independent Record Label Focused On Afro-Culture across the Diaspora.
It all started when
Naab took his first pilgrimage to Ghana in 2014 after leaving to the United States in search of better opportunities. He had a sudden epiphany while working on a song. The epiphany was “ Sankofa.” Sankofa (pronounced SAHN-koh-fah) is a word in the Twi language of Ghana that translates to "Go back and get it" (san - to return; ko - to go; fa - to fetch, to seek and take). For a man like Naab in the dieaspora he realized the importance of connecting with your culture. It is said that a people with no past have no future, and for Naab, he saw the future as Africa. His family was there and so was all their history. He completed a journey by returning home; in the time that he left to go live in the western world, his homeland had continue to evolve and grow without him and he realized it would continue to do so. He made a promise to share what he had seen and attempt to bridge the gap. Always focusing on the bigger picture he worked to establish what has come to be known as Dieaspora Records.
